wow! what a thread! great food for thought.

I ask men out all the time. Sometimes, they ask me out too. I figure it this way: I’m tall. I’m very smart and assertive. I dress like a cross between Grace Jones and Morticia Addams. I’m a very intimidating person, often experienced by others as a ‘femme fatale’ type from the get-go.

As such, I already know that most people, male and female, are scared of me, having been told this many many times by people of both sexes who later became dear and good friends. So. I have learned I need to be active in letting others know I want to connect with them, if that’s what I want.

I’ve never sat down and tried to correlate the relationships that went longer term and compared the ones that started with my asking to the ones that started with his asking. In one case, my one marriage, I’m pretty sure neither one of us asked each other anything, having met through mutual friends.
