The OP is African and American, but not what we call an African American, or black American. He comes from a family with enough means to send him to the US from Nigeria to college. I’m not sure whether or not he went to school in Boston or as lived there the whole time, but if he did, he probably socialized most and lived around mostly college educated white people, a much smaller percentage of international students like himself, and probably not very many African American females.
As Vox says, like dates like, but it’s more often a class and socialization thing than a race thing. Cricri’s experience also rings true to me. I’ve gone out with a couple of Cameroonian immigrants, and they also dated white women pretty exclusively — white women with curvy builds.

The OP is currently 27 and has been back in the U.S. for 11 years, which he means he came at age 16 and thus has spent most of his life in Africa. So now after 11 years in the U.S. he suddenly has more in common with college-educated Caucasian women? Sorry, but I don’t follow your logic.
